AirMaax High Output Wind Turbine

The AirMaax wind turbine is the ONLY wind turbine on the market that has a factory integrated Amp meter and data logger built into its included charge regulator. The regulator not only gives you real time Amp data, but also records the daily Amps produced by the wind turbine, which helps the cruiser have a better understanding of his ships charging system and available battery power. This feature also means that you can trust the output performance data we provide because you will be able to see exactly how many Amps are being produced at a glance!
A unique feature of the AirMaax design is that the wind turbine produces AC power in the wind turbine (as others do) but then rectifies the power to 12volts DC at the regulator rather than in the wind turbine. This allows for the use of much smaller (and less expensive) electrical cables from the wind turbine to your regulator located near your battery bank, saving on voltage loss and putting more power into your batteries. The regulator controls the wind turbines output to maintain maximum power going to your batteries, as well as having the ability to float your batteries when they reach full charge.
Rather than giving performance data in units of measurement meaningless to the cruiser, the below graph gives Amps produced at the various wind speeds most commonly experienced by a cruising vessel. ElectroMaax designed the AirMaax wind turbine for optimal performance in the wind speed range most typically experienced by cruisers, 8 to 20 knots. The 6 blade design is able to not just start spinning in lighter winds than other units, but actually produce useful amounts of power in the lower wind speeds. It’s nice to have a wind turbine that can put out a lot of Amps during a 37 knot gale, but how often does a cruising boat experience those types of winds? Not very often if you want your wife to stay out cruising with you! The cruiser cares about the Amp output in typical every-day winds experienced in a nice comfortable anchorage, which are 8 to 20 knots.
