AquaMaax High Output Alternators

Having real world cruising rather than a sales and marketing focus, ElectroMaax doesn't offer "a light duty alternator series" at a slight discount.  A "light duty alternator" is an oxymoron on a cruising boat where power demands are so commonly underestimated in the cruise planning and outfitting phase.  Like fresh water, power on a cruising boat is something I've never heard anyone complain about having too much of, to the contrary, most of the cruising headaches revolve around a shortage of power or water!  The ElectroMaax line of high output alternators offer a smart solution to the power shortage issue.

AquaMaax alternators are made in Ontario, Canada with 100% North American parts and available in Amp sizes of 80, 100, 120, 140, 160 and 180 in configurations to easily fit the common Frame, Pad, and Saddle mounting options found on all the common marine diesels.

Due to a demonstrated reputation for quality and durability, AquaMaax alternators are now standard equipment on all Hunter Sailboats, 36ft and larger.

AquaMaax 80, 100, 120, and 140Amp Alternators are designed to produce 70% of their output at idle, while the 160Amp produces 60% and the180Amp produces 50%.  This design feature allows for maximum charging capacity at lower engine speeds, which is where most cruisers operate their engine for fuel economy.  The below graphs illustrates the alternators Amp output versus engine RPM for two popular alternator sizes of 100 and 140Amp.

When checking out the AquaMaax alternators, you won't find a glossy powder coated alternator with marketing flash and sizzle.  Sound engineering knows that the powder coating will act as an insulator on the aluminum alternator housing hindering the efficient dissipation of heat, resulting in a burned out alternator.  ElectroMaax gave up the flash and sizzle paint job for an alternator that simply doesn't overheat when combined with it's optimal dual fan cooling and design features.  Another well known brand of alternators has an alternator temperature sensor which cuts the alternator's Amp output as their unit begins to overheat.  AquaMaax alternators don't require this "burn-out protection" which means more Amps into your battery bank and we back this confidence up with an industry leading three (3) year limited Warranty!
