Many cruisers fill their ships water tanks with dock water during their time in a marina.  With the Colitag testing kit, you will now be able to verify that the water in your ships tank is free from coliform bacteria.

The kit comes packaged in a sturdy carrying case complete with everything needed for monthly water testing for a one year period including:

  • 12 sealed sample bottles
  • 12 colitag test reagent capsules
  • A color indicator standard
  • (An Optional UV light to detect E-Coli Bacteria)
The Testing process is as simple as filling the pre-sterilized sample bottle with a sample from your ships water system, adding the contents of the test ampule to the water sample and then comparing the color of your sample to the included indicator bottle 16-48hrs later.  If your water sample changes color from a near colorless to yellow, then the sample contains at least 1 colony-forming-unit (CFU) of bacteria per 100mls of water and you should then take actions to sterilize your water tank. The optional UV light will also identify the presence of E-Coli bacteria in your water sample.
